A CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOME IN VIRGINIA

Hey All,
Here is yet another tour of a model home I recently visitted. I am sure by now it is obvious that we are on a subtle house hunt. This is a new construction we spotted recently by K Hovnanian Homes , their Willowsford Farm , craftsman style homes. First of all a disclaimer : All opinions are mine and mine only. If you haven't seen the first one in the series, do check out here.

What caught my eye at first sight was beautiful exteriors, a real porch, side open garage, well defined architectural features. And to top it off, there is a balcony from the master bedroom. Cool !

Living Room

The whole house , except for the bedrooms are painted neutral colors, but every room has its own scheme and different vibe, yet the cohesive flow is kept intact. The neutral beige on the wall, that goes well with different types of decor contributes highly to that effect.

Below is some of the shots of formal living that is just off the main door. There is a door to the porch from this room.

I have not been a big fan of brown sofa and very brown wood on furniture. I still wouldn't choose the color for my dream sofa in my own dream home. But this room definitely going to push us into heated arguments about that because Girish loved ( he always have) the masculine colors and accents in the room. I did not like the chandelier much, but it adds warmth. What I love most in the room, definitely the curtain panels. Wow, that fabric!!!

Dining Room

Dining room faces the living from opposite side. The same window panels, brownish wood furniture and accents makes it go hand in hand with the living room, even though this room is more country style than the other.

Great Room

The great room is just a small hallway away from the previous rooms, well connected and very visible from the entry. Here too designer has stayed true to country style decor ( whole community revolves around a farm) with stone fireplace, crown mouldings and craftsman style stair rails.

How do you like the coffee table? And the beautiful fan up the ceilings and then the details on the ceiling?

Here too I love the fabric choice for the roman shades and window valances. Gives the room this country feel, so connected to the nature. I also noticed the designer has kept most of the decor, neutral and organic and with some connection to the nature. Below is the small conversation area set up just off the main family living area. I can imagine myself sitting there and writing a blog post :-)

One thing that caught my eye in this room is the cool handle holder fixture from the ceiling over the sitting area. Totally DIY trial worthy.

Kitchen

Kitchen is one place I couldn't get a decent picture of along with the master. The lighting in these pictures are way off. You must visit the KHovnanian site to have a decent look of these gorgeous space.

Bedroom1

When you move upstairs, first thing you will notice is this River/boat themed room. It will be interesting for a little boy I guess. It definitely is too themey for my taste, but you have to give it up for the designer because it's done perfectly.

Bedroom 2

The second bedroom is set up for the princess of the family. But, no, pink is not the color for the girls any more I think. This is the second time I am noticing blues and yellows playing roles that pink used to get. Remember the previous tour I shared a few days ago? There too, the girl's room was done in blue.

Bedroom 3

The guest bedroom is the best done room, next to the great room of course in the house. The wall paper , wood tones, masculine bed and feminine bedding - The wall paper takes the cake though.

Master Bedroom

I could not get good pictures of the master bedroom, my Iphone died by that time and without a tripod, none of the camera pictures came out good. Bad blogger - I know. I accept that.

The room as such was set moody and calm with caramel , navy color scheme. The master bath has another of those beautiful wallpapers.

Mud Room

Last but not the least the mud room is just off the family room and here is where you enter from garage. It connects to the office room and powder room and then leads to the family room.

That concludes the tour of this craftsman style home from Ashburn Virginia. Visit KHovnanian Homes site for other homes in this series.

I do have a modern home to share with you, but that is for another day. Do let me know if you spotted some of your dream home features here. I would love to hear your thoughts.
