DIY : UP-CYCLED ACRYLIC TRAYS

This clearly is not a well thought out project. Rather it is a spur of the moment one, exactly salvaging a packaging box just before putting it in trash - kind of effort. But it is definitely a lovely one, because I am sure you wouldn't guess what it is made of,  if I didn't tell you. So please meet my rescue trays here.

Supplies 

-- Clear Plastic Packaging Box ( I made 2 out of 1 box, base and lid)

-- Fabric ( Pretty Paper will work the same)

-- Mod Podge

-- Brush 

How- To

This is ridiculously simple. First you clean the box really well. Then measure and cut fabric . Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge  on the inside of the box and glue the fabric on. Let it cure. You can give another layer of it on top of fabric for added protection.

In my case I used a fabric remnant found from Joann Fabrics & Crafts and a pretty Ribbon I had in hand from Michaels Stores. The ribbon I cut down in strips and glued them on according to the pattern.

That's it friends. I am using one on my desk and one on my bed side table. Given the price of Lucite and Acrylic Trays, isn't this one worthy up-cycle or should I call re-cycle? Anyways I am in love.
