DIY : VASES OF STRAWS

I love paper straws. They are a mundane utilitarian piece of drinkware that is part of most parties. But with all honesty I can't drink with most of them. Have you seen some of the designs and colors of them? Irresistibile. That is the only reason I hoard them. Not to drink with them. Drinking with some of those prettiness is a crime I say. And today's craft is to discourage you from using up all those pretties out there and to use them to make pretty things instead.

So here we go. My beloved paper straw vases. Trust me, this is only first installment. I have many things planned with them. Watch this space.

Supplies

You will need,

--Pretty Paper straws ( I don't remember where all I got these from. I have been hoarding for a long time now)

-- Empty soup cans

--Hot glue Gun/ Super Glue

--Craft Paint & Brush

How- To

You start by removing all labels from the soup can and painting them in a color that match or contrast with the straws you have chosen. Now measure and cut down those straws to the width of the can.

Just to add some interest I have cut them at varying lengths but it is fine if you want the whole thing with symmetry. Next you glue the straws to the can with the hot glue gun. That'
s all it takes. Use these decorated cans as vases, pencil cups, brush holders or as any holder.

What is your opinion now about these straws, just a drinkware or super cool decor makers?

Happy Weekend All.

    1. Thank you Amanda. Thanks for visiting. I know, I too can't resist a good straw with a great pattern and I raise my voice if someone accidentally uses them :-)
