SUMMER CRAFT WITH KIDS : DIY FAVOR BAGS

Ok, first things first, a certain little one is celebrating her birthday this weekend at This Design Journal abode. We are celebrating at one of her favorite places CHUCK E CHEESE , where there is a birthday party package option, but that hasn't deterred us from adding some of our own DIY touches . For starters we painted some DIY Favor Bags - together and that is what I am sharing here today .

So onto the project -

In-spite of loving almost all types of DIYs and customizations, it is the simplest of the ones that catch my attention and it is the simplest of ones that I love to do for myself too. Since it is the season when the students and kids are in full fledged "Back-To- School mode, I have one such project apt for the season.

So, this is the second installment of our summer craft series. Is there crafts specifically for summer? Well, no - I call it so only because these crafts are part of our (me & my little Akshara) summer vacation time pass fun. If you haven't seen the first one - please do check it out here.

This time I am sharing a name banner we created with wood plaques we found at Michaels for cheap. You really don't need wood, packaging box material, even thick scrap book paper would do the trick. Akshara is in love with all fruity colors - pinks,yellows,oranges. So those are the colors we chose.

If it was up to me I would have chosen geometric sophisticated pattern - but order and minimal is not what a typical 4 year old would have in mind right!. So the pattern courtesy goes to her.

QUICK FIX DECOR : THIS PAINTED BASKET

I browse through lot of home tours most of the days. And I have noticed things that draw my attention in most of the spaces are the little personal touches people add to their homes. And I love to do the same in my home. Even with the store brought mundane things, I like to tweak them a bit to add my stamp on it. Sometimes these tweaks take effort and time and sometimes it is quick and trivial changes. Today's quick fix is one such quickie.
